ART&ILLUSTRATION
I am a fine artist and illustrator residing in San Diego with my family and our pup. My family nurtured my growth and development through exposure to the arts, books, nature, adventure, and concern for the human experience. These elements inform my work: be it a work of fine art, an illustrative piece, or a book to be enjoyed by a child and/or adult.
I guess I am a late bloomer. It has taken me quite a while to find my true calling. Along the way, I have enjoyed exploring and learning in wonderful places with interesting people. My mom was my very first art teacher, and I am fortunate to have taken many art classes with excellent teachers over the years. I spent several years teaching elementary school before raising my children. I am currently completing certificates in children's book writing and illustration.
As a fine artist, I capture the essence of beauty in the natural world and everyday sights. I work in a variety of mediums.
As an illustrator, I create narrative illustrations that engage imagination, wonder, curiosity, and empathy.
As an author, I weave words with my art: sharing stories, information and inspirations.
As a teacher, I design lessons to engage students in the process of making visual and narrative art.
